From Our President

Greetings,

“Food, Faith, and Fellowship”, that is the title of the Program Resource 2024. As I reflected on the title, I recalled the many times that I’ve gathered with my Sisters in Christ, UWF Members in various spaces and enjoyed the fellowship and food as we talked about our faith. I am excited that this year, your conference and district teams have planned a number of events where we can gather, fellowship and eat as we learn new things together.

I wanted to share the following from the author, Joyce del Rosario,

Each program is meant to be embodied or practiced throughout your gathering together as an act of care and love toward one another and toward our communities. Our hospitality and care for each other can be as simple as listing the ingredients next to the dishes shared with the group, being aware of the dietary restrictions of group members, or making sure to offer a variety of dishes that allows for a variety of dietary needs and preferences. Facilitators can consider sign-up sheets before each event so participants can note specific dietary considerations. Consider how food needs to be prepared and handled if cross-contamination is a concern. Or maybe, encourage participants to bring a dish that works for them and can be shared with others. Whatever the practice, the idea is to create a space where each person feels welcomed and considered and free to bring their full selves to the table.

The Program Resource Book can be purchased at uwfaithresources.org. With your purchase you also receive a downloadable copy and let us not forget access to the community gatherings on Mighty Network.

This month, the conference team provided training on position responsibilities. As a member, you play an important role in your church and our conference. You are the vessels that help share with others what we as a UWFaith member and beyond. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”. I want to say thank you for your willingness to serve whether it is on the local, district or conference level.

I am looking forward to the many opportunities for us to gather this year. Starting with the North District Annual Spiritual Day Apart, which will be held on Saturday, February 10th, at Waples UMC, 4323 Waples Road in Granbury. “Things to Know About United Women in Faith”. The gathering begins at 9:30, and the Program is from 10-noon.

Other Save the Dates: CTC UWFaith Sing a Rainbow, February 24th, and the Spiritual Growth Retreat, March 15-16th. Please continue to check back here and on our Facebook page for events and other UWFaith information.

Blessings to you,

Pam Pinkerton-Whitley. CTCUWF Conference President
